Several West Clermont Schools Receive Purple Star Award

Four West Clermont Schools were designated as Purple Star Schools by the Ohio Department of Education last week. Withamsville-Tobasco Elementary received the award for the first time and Amelia, Merwin, and Willowville Elementary Schools earned a renewal after three years as dedicated Purple Star Schools.

The Purple Star Award recognizes a school’s efforts to provide extra support to military-connected students and families so they can thrive socially, emotionally and academically. Schools must meet a set of important criteria set by Ohio’s Purple Star Advisory Board. The designation is for three years, at which time the school can reapply.

“Receiving the Purple Star School Award is an honor,” said Superintendent Natasha Adams. “It reflects our commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families while empowering our students to shape the lives they dream of.”

West Clermont High School is also a Purple Star School and was awarded the honor in 2023.
